
Joel Olufowote, PhD
Director of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer; Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, & Humanities
Dr. Olufowote has spent over a decade on the college campus as a professor of political science with increasing administrative responsibility, through the years, over diversity, equity, and inclusion. Currently, Olufowote is the Chief Academic Officer at the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Humanities. In this role, Olufowote oversees the Office of Academic Affairs (leadership, supervision and evaluation of roughly 30 faculty, 8 staff members and 300 students, the curriculum, student discipline, etc), the Guidance Office (student advising, course schedules, tutorial services, grades, etc), and the Center for College and Career Counseling (college application and admission processes, college choices, scholarships, and financial aid).
Prior, Olufowote served as Executive Director for Inclusive Excellence and Associate Professor of Political Science at Indiana Wesleyan University, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Faculty Director of the Center for Community Inclusion at McMurry University and as a Rockefeller Postdoctoral Fellow in Public Policy and Public Affairs at SUNY- Albany.
As a consultant, Olufowote has worked as program advisor for the Study of the United States Summer Institute- funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department- and is currently a research consultant for senior management with the Association of Equipment Distributors. Olufowote’s research and scholarly activity can be found in outlets such as USA Today, the Association of Equipment Distributors Foundation Report, Construction Equipment Guide, Equipment World, Service Truck Magazine, among others.
